PostSubject: ARE CHELSEA DOOMED WITHOUT SPENDING?   Thu Oct 08, 2009 2:42 pm

First topic message reminder :

Recent fines and bans for their tapping up of individuals has meant they are stuck with what they have.

Even Kalou, who was on his way out the club to Scunthorpe or Barnsley has been given a new contract. With 6 key players in to their 30's, no possibility of buying their way to stardom again and an owner renowned for his lack of patience, are Chelsea doomed without spending?

We're nowhere near doomed, besides Ronaldo and Alonso are gone, so we might have a better chance of the title this year.

That was my tip at the beginning of the season. It's beyond this season I was wondering about.

Chelsea are and have been my favourites for the title since the start of the season. But I feel Alonso and Ronaldo leaving was key to that

I've no doubt that we are still in negotiations with teams/players to sign when the ban is lifted.

It will be a massive blow if the ban is not reduced, some players will be closing on 40 rather than close to 30 when the ban expires. They may have even retired.

Fernando Torres limped out of training with the Spain squad but his injury is not thought to be serious.

The Liverpool striker abandoned the training session as a precautionary measure when he pulled up with a groin problem, but was later able to exercise on his own in the gym.

Torres should be fit for Spain's World Cup qualifying double header which is good news for coach Vicente del Bosque, who is already without Valencia forward David Villa who pulled out of the squad earlier this week with a hamstring injury.

With Spain having already booked their ticket to South Africa, Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez will hope La Roja do not risk Torres, who has scored eight goals in seven league games this season.

Spain face Armenia on Saturday before visiting Bosnia-Herzegovina four days later as they aim to see out their qualifying campaign with a 100% record.

you'll be doomed if lady boy gets a serious injury.

I don't play, and I'm as fit as most young ones if not fitter.
