Temuri Ketsbaia has been appointed head coach of the Georgia national team.
Ketsbaia comes in place of Hector Cooper who parted ways with the squad earlier this week after a disappointing 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign.
The former Newcastle midfielder has previous managerial experience at Olympiacos and Anorthosis Famagusta whom he led to the Cypriot League title twice in five years during an impressive reign.
Ketsbaia will take over as of January 1 with the hope of guiding Georgia to the 2012 European Championships.
"I am happy to be given a chance to help Georgian football," said Ketsbaia, who won 49 caps for Georgia.
"We have decent resources and if we use them in a proper way we can play good football."
good on ya Temuri, seems like a promising manager
